The smoked form of crystal meth is referred to as ice crystal meth, crystal, crank, and glass. Crystal meth is a very potent stimulant of the central nervous system.

It acts on the dopamine receptors in the brain preventing its reuptake, thus allowing an abnormal amount of dopamine circulation in the body.

The dopamine stimulates brain cells and at the same time, enhancing body actions and mood. Other body activities that can be affected with the use of this drug are appetite suppressant, heart rate, body temperature and response associated with alertness.

When it is taken by mouth, the effects may last 6 to 8 hours. When it is smoked or injected, the effects can last 10 to 12 hours.

Crystal Meth can be smoked, snorted, taken orally, or injected. Depending on how it is taken, the drug can alter mood differently.

When smoked or injected ice crystal meth can produce effects within seconds. With smoking or IV ice crystal meth; there is an intense rush that lasts only for a few minutes.

Snorting or oral use produces euphoria, but not as intense as with smoking or injection. When compared to cocaine, crystal meth not only works on blocking the feedback mechanism of the nervous system, it also work on the transporter, pushing out the dopamine faster.

This is why after using ice crystal meth over a period of time, dopamine becomes depleted and meth addiction patients develop Parkinson like symptoms.

Moreover the use of cocaine produce euphoria up to about 20 minutes, compared to ice crystal meth which produce euphoria for more than 12 hours.

The number of cases on ice crystal meth has been drastically on the increase due to the cheap cost and availability of this dug on the streets and the crave for the desired sensations that it produces.

Today it has been move up from a class B drug to a class A and possession of this illegal drug can cause up to seven years imprisonment.
