Didrex and
methamphetamine
Didrex is the
brand name of benzphetamine, an anti obesity drug. It is used in
the management of exogenous obesity for short term period.

The main function of didrex is to reduce hunger which result in
low calories intake. This drug is closely related to the
amphetamine family.
Didrex is metabolized by the body into amphetamines and
methamphetamine metabolites. This is one of the few drugs that
undergo in vitro conversion to a more addictive substance.
Didrex however do not have a high potential to become an
addictive drug like methamphetamines and other amphetamines.
This is because it will take the liver sometime to metabolize
the drug into methamphetamine metabolites thus even if it is taken
via injection or smoked, the way methamphetamine is used, it would
not be able to produce the same effects immediately.
Didrex is more
habit forming. Users can become physically and psychologically
dependent on this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if
it is stop taking suddenly after several weeks of continuous
use.
Didrex and methamphetamine shares some common effects such as
restlessness, tremors, anxiety, insomnia, increase heart rate and
high blood pressure.
Unlike methamphetamines and other amphetamines, didrex is
classified as a schedule 3 drug (meth and other amphetamines,
schedule 2).
