Methamphetamine
is a central nervous system stimulant that has been used for the
treatment of attention deficit disorder, obesity and for other
ailments that require the treatment for amphetamine.

This drug, has proven to be very addictive, has been giving much
needed research over the past decade.
Scientists are concern about the effects that this drug has on
the central nervous systems and has been seeking alternatives drugs
and means of treatment for its addiction.
When the methamphetamine is smoked or injected user experiences
an intense "rush" that last for only a few minutes and is described
as extremely pleasurable.
Crystal meth effects last longer, sometimes for hours, and are
usually more intense. Snorting or when ingesting orally produces
euphoria - a high but not an intense rush.
Snorting and IV produces effects within three to five minutes
Ingesting orally produces effects within 15 to 20 minutes, which
would last longer but less intense.
There
demography of crystal meth users is young people from an early age
of twelve years to about thirty five. The percentage of crystal
meth users over forty is not alarming.
In 2006, a survey carried out by the National Survey of drug use
and health noted that 5.77% of the US population over twelve years
has used meth sometime in their life.
The following year, Monitoring The Future carried out a similar
survey among high schools which showed that 1.8% of eighth graders,
2.8% of tenth graders, and 3.0% of twelfth graders reported
lifetime use of methamphetamine.
In 2006, these percentages were 2.7%, 3.2%, and 4.4%,
respectively. Women tend to use crystal meth more than they would
use cocaine.
The long term faith for crystal meth users are addiction,
depression, anxiety, mood changes, and disorderly behavior.
These effects depends on a variety of factors that include, the
age, dosage, body weight, how long the drug has been taken,
the method of administering, and so forth.
Crystal meth effects are similar to that of cocaine, except that
these effects last much longer. The euphoria may last as long as 12
hours as compared to cocaine effects that last only a few
minutes.
Moreover some of the major side effects may last as long as 24
hours after the drug has being administered.
