Meth Addiction
Methamphetamine, also called meth, use
has been of growing concern since this drug has a very high
potential for abuse.

It is more addictive in people who smoke or use the drug in
the form of an injection as opposed to those who snort or use
it orally.
Those who use the drug in the form of an injection or
smoking have an immediate brief but intense high result while
snorting and oral use of the drug produce a longer lasting
effect.
The latter however takes a longer time before they develop
that "high" feeling, which is not the desire result for a meth
addict.
There are three different groups of people who can acquire
meth addiction. There are those who use the drug for
medicinal purposes and eventually become hooked, those who use
the drug to get that "rush" euphoric feeling and babies who are
born to a parent with meth addiction.
Babies born with meth addiction can
suffer from low birth rate, tremors, attention deficit disorder
and other birth defects.
For short term users of meth, there are common side effects
such as insomnia, weight loss, feeling of well, very energetic,
increase in heart rate and blood pressure.
Long term can experience the similar effects as those who
use the drug for short periods. However, due to the damage it
can cause to the body and mind, there are some additions
effects such as psychosis, hallucination, multiple organ
(especially lungs and kidney) damage and stroke.
Those who acquire the meth addiction can recover from this
addiction. The withdrawal period is very intense and there are
always possibilities for relapse.
Meth addiction rehab
There is a new culture being born in America's youthful
generation. One that permits the drug and party crave
lifestyle. With this new change in our society, entrepreneurs
have seen it fit to invest in the new "crave", Drug Rehab
centers.
There has been a vast increase in the number of drug rehab
centers nationwide. Each institution has its own way in helping
people overcome their addictions.
Some centers may have a favorable outcome for people who
suffer from a particular addiction, when compared to other
addictions.
Most drug rehab centers have a 6 month program, or the new
Matrix Model program that last 52 weeks, which can get you on
your feet before the course expires. What about the journey
after the storm?
Orlando, a computer technician from Palm Springs was a meth
addict in college and had suffered with this addiction for over
4 years. His parents, after seeing how much he was
deteriorating admitted him into a meth addiction rehab.
He was at first reluctant to get help. However with the
support of family and good friends Orlando made started the 6
months program at a local meth addiction rehab. He explained,
"This was the worst 6 months I ever had". The program was so
intense, both individual and group sessions were conducted on a
daily bases.
The meth rehab center used a gradual reducing technique that
lasted about 1 month, after which no chemical was administered.
Orlando recalled that from that period onwards, every day was
like a nightmare. "To be completely dependent on
something and then lose it all in a flash," was his explanation
of this painful process.
Fortunate for him, within 6 months he had recovered from his
addiction, but that was not the end of the road. It has been
over 5 years since he became drug free but the struggle on this
path is just as worst as those 6months in the meth addiction
rehab center.
Whether it is a drug or alcohol addiction, rehab centers may
be the only way towards once again, living a normal life.
However the journey after the storm may not be that
glamorous as not being addicted in the first place.
